Barking success for 8th Kloof and Highway SPCA Dog Box Challenge

This was the eighth annual Dog Box Challenge and the first in three years since the COVID pandemic began.

THIRTY-NINE brave participants were ‘locked up’ in the kennels at the SPCA for the annual Kloof and Highway SPCA Dog Box Challenge. Their aim was to raise R10 000 each.

On the evening of May 27, members of the public came to show their support for the inmates and to take part in the festivities, which included music and dancing.

According to Brigitte Ferguson, the marketing assistant of The Kloof and Highway SPCA, the annual Dog Box fundraiser for 2022 was a huge success.

It felt like normalcy had returned for the first time in three years.

The goal for each kennel was R10 000, and the SPCA was pleased to announced that they have managed to raise approximately R300 000.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA is committed to outreach, and these funds will be used to continue to assist all animals who lost their lives or who were severely affected by the KZN Floods.

“Our inspectors and employees have been bringing food and blankets, as well as assisting the animals with any medical crises. This work will continue, and we thank everyone who donated, sat in a kennel, and supported us, on behalf of The Kloof and Highway SPCA and all the animals, because none of this would be possible without you,” said Ferguson.
