Durban roads waterlogged – motorists advised to drive with caution

Take note that some roads have been flooded by the heavy rain.

RESIDENTS and drivers are requested to exercise extreme caution as the rains continued throughout the night.

Several areas have been affected, with many of the roads reported as being waterlogged or completely flooded.

eThekwini Municipality said moderate to low rainfall is to continue until 20:00.

The City warned of a high probability of localised flooding of vulnerable area and landslides within the municipality.

Below is an update on roads to avoid:

🔵 Riverside Road, that joins the M4 Ruth First Highway, is completely flooded.
🔵 M4 Southern Freeway both directions – look out for large puddles of water.
🔵 Umgeni Road west-bound under the N2 bridge is closed to traffic; all lanes are waterlogged.
🔵 M13 in both directions has lots of water on the roadway as well as mudslides.
🔵 M7 has mudslides as well as moving water across the roadway. Please avoid using the M7 for safety reasons.
🔵 Caversham Road in Pinetown is closed to traffic. The road is sunken in and is cordoned off
🔵 M41 from Phoenix at the N2 south-bound bridge – the road is closed to traffic.
🔵 South-coast Road to M7 is completely waterlogged and closed to all traffic.
🔵 N2 near the old airport has large puddles on the road.
🔵 N3 coming into Durban is also waterlogged – be vigilant.

In the Highway area, residents are advised to use caution or avoid the intersection between Joshua Gumede and Anderson Roads in Pinetown. The roads are waterlogged.
