Westville couple toast to 60 years of marriage

Tony and Lyn Orchard who celebrated their diamond anniversary said lots of love, patience and perseverance was their recipe for a long-lasting relationship.

WESTVILLE couple, Tony and Lyn Orchard celebrated their diamond anniversary on Tuesday, March 1.

Tony first laid eyes on Lyn at a party just over 61 years ago while they were both living in Kenilworth, Cape Town.

The party was to bid farewell to Tony’s girlfriend at the time and unbeknown to them it turned out to be a farewell to Lyn’s boyfriend at the time too, who was also at the party. The rest is history.

The couple were married on March 1, 1962 and have successfully raised a wonderful family who are all now living close to them in Westville. They have two sons and a daughter.

Their recipe for a long lasting marriage is: Lots of love, patience and perseverance.

Their daughter, Megan Essers sent a special message to her wonderful parents.

“We wish to thank them for the wonderful life and special years they have given us and our families, we wish them both many more happy years to come,” she said.
