Don’t pick up snakes, urges Highway’s Nick Evans

Stiletto Snakes have a cytotoxic venom which doesn't cause death, but can potentially cause horrid tissue damage.

According to Evans, the dog, a Great Dane, killed a Stiletto Snake, but was bitten in the process.

STILLETO SNAKES: Don’t pick up snakes, warns Highway expert

“It’s incredibly unlikely that a dog would bite one of these snakes and not get bitten. Due to the small size of the snake, and the fact that the fangs pop out the side,” he said.

According to Evans, Stiletto Snakes have a cytotoxic venom which doesn’t cause death, but it does cause a lot of pain, swelling, and potentially horrid tissue damage.

“If you hear of any bites on people in KwaZulu-Natal, especially around Durban, please do let me know via WhatsApp or email,” he said.
