According to Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics Medical Services, three vehicles collided on the road.

“Two children, aged three and seven, believed to be in the rear of the bakkie, sustained critical injuries and were stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics before the Netcare 911 Aero Medical Helicopter was activated to airlift the three-year-old to hospital,” said Jamieson.

However, the three-year-old went into cardiac arrest before leaving the scene.

“Beside resuscitation attempts, her injuries were too severe and she was declared deceased on the scene,” stated Jamieson.

The second child was transported to hospital for urgent treatment.
