Caring Upper Highway group makes moving donation

Three orphanages and two community centres benefitted from the Move ONE Million - Upper Highway group.

A TEAM of dedicated members from the Move ONE Million – Upper Highway made a heartfelt donation of much-needed items to three orphanages and two community centres in the Valley of 1 000 Hills recently.

The 10 members from the group joined the non-profit organisation, Shap Shap, to do the handover of stationery, clothes, pillows, blankets, baby mattresses, book shelves, toys, tin food and delicious snack packs to Osindisweni, EsiBusisweni and The White House and the two community centres.

According to Jane Schofield of Move ONE Million – Upper Highway group leader and field rep, the items were collected over a two-week period by members of the Upper Highway community.

“I cannot describe in words the joy on the faces of the children and adults that received the donations. Our hearts were touched by the loud, happy singing we heard as tears welled up in our eyes,” she said.

The next project on the horizon for the group is to host a KwaNyuswa Youth clean up on Saturday, September 18 from 08.00 to 10:30. The group will meet at The Village Centre, 61 Old Main Road in Hillcrest. Participants are encouraged to wear a black t-shirt. Masks are mandatory.

Supporters can bring along gloves and drinking water. To take part, contact Jane Schofield on 082 822 4332.
