Pinetown Highway Hospice charity shop needs your preloved items

Buyers can find a variety of pre-loved goodies at the Pinetown Highway Hospice charity shop.

THE Pinetown Highway Hospice has appealed to the community to support its charity shop by donating their preloved items.

The donated goods, which are cleaned and restored by volunteers or staff, are one of the hospice’s primary sources of income. The Highway Hospice is a local NPO that cares for and supports people who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

Funds raised at the charity shop are also used to provide support and counselling to relatives of the terminally ill patients.

The Highway Hospice has, since 1982, provided a vital service to the critically ill in the community and tough economic conditions have had a huge impact on funding and ultimately the extent of support that they are able to provide to terminally ill patients in their care.

Sheryll de Jager, the Pinetown shop manager, said they are in need of donations since the charity shops in Hillcrest and Sherwood had to close due to Covid-19.

“Furniture, appliances, crockery, cutlery, clothing, shoes, glassware and pictures, mirrors and linen, jewellery, toys and books, we have buyers for all,” said de Jager.

Donations can be dropped off at the shop situated at 5 Butts Road, off Underwood Road.
