Man shot during armed robbery outside Hillcrest bank

The armed men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A 55-YEAR-OLD man was shot during an armed robbery outside a bank on Old Main Road, Hillcrest earlier today, Monday, 21 June.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith said the victim was approached by a lime green Toyota Avanza.

“Two unknown suspects got off the vehicle and produced firearms. One suspect shot the victim in his thigh. The victim’s bag with an disclosed amount of cash was taken,” said Smith.

The victim was taken to hospital and case of attempted murder and armed robbery is being investigated by Hillcrest SAPS.

“We are urging residents to come forward with any information pertaining to this incident,” said Smith.
