Evans snaps up snake in Dawncliffe ceiling

The local snake catcher noted that many homes had rats in or around them and this is what attracts snakes.

NICK Evans was called to a Dawncliffe home to remove a snake found in the ceiling after a geyser burst.

“We often get calls for snakes in ceilings. They enjoy ceilings, as it is safe, warm shelter, with food (rats, geckos and even bats). Generally, unless it’s a large Black Mamba, we don’t find the snake. There are too many hiding places for them. Plus, crawling over and under beams in a hot ceiling is never fun,” said Evans.

A geyser burst and, when the plumber lifted the ceiling trap door, a snake was seen.

The tradesman refused to go back in until the snake was removed.

“Very reluctantly, I went. Usually we don’t, but the people needed their geyser fixed. Well, to my surprise, I popped my head in and the snake was still lying next to the geyser!” exclaimed Evans.

The house snake was reported to have eaten a rat a few days prior and was digesting its meal when it was captured by Evans.

“Rats are pretty much in everyone’s ceilings, or around homes. Many people deny ever having rats, which is always quite amusing. Nothing to be ashamed about, they’re everywhere. And that is why snakes come for a takeaway meal,” he mused.
