Attempted murder and kidnapping case opened against Metro police officer
The officer is accused to have assaulted two teenage boys with special needs, accusing them of stealing from his home.
A CASE of attempted murder and kidnapping has been opened at the Mariannhill SAPS against a Metro Police Officer who allegedly assaulted two teenage boys and forced them to drink petrol.
This has been confirmed by Mariannhill SAPS communications officer, Captain Marcelino Harold.
It is alleged that the eThekwini Metro Police Officer severely assaulted the two boys after accusing them of stealing from his house in Savanna Park, near Pinetown, said Harold.

Responding to the allegations, KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC, Nonhlanhla Khoza said they were disgusted by the incident.
“It is very shocking that an officer of the law will point a firearm at children and force them to admit to have broken into his home. We will not tolerate any form of behaviour that threatens the safety and wellbeing of children.
“It also worsens the situation that nothing was found from these vulnerable children. We are really taken aback by these allegations involving a police officer who is supposed to be a custodian of the law,” she said.

The boys aged 13 and 16, both with special needs, are learners at Ningizimu Special School.
“The boys sustained injuries and one had to be rushed to hospital.”
Khoza said no one had a right to abuse children and vowed not to leave this matter unattended.
“No police officer has a right to take the law into their own hands. How does a person get the audacity to point a firearm at children and force them to drink petrol.
She added that her department will be engaging with the Mayor of eThekwini Municipality, councillor Mxolisi Kaunda and MEC for Community Safety and Liaison, Peggy Nkonyeni, to ensure that these allegations are investigated.
Metro police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad declined to comment.
