Westville SAPS warn of online advert scams

WESTVILLE SAPS has appealed to the community to be cautious when shopping online, especially when buying pets and cars.

“Of late we have had cases where dogs have been advertised on Facebook. Once the victim deposits a large amount of money, the ‘seller’ cannot be traced.

“The advert is then deleted and the victim has lost a lot of money,” said Capt Elizabeth Squires, the station’s communications officer.

Squires advised people to do thorough checks and verify information before making the deposit.

“If it sounds too good, then think again,” she said.
