Duo sentenced 15 years for armed robbery at Westville jewellery store
The armed suspects robbed the store at gunpoint in 2018.

TWO men, who robbed a jewellery store in Westville and held the employees at gun point, were sentenced at the Pinetown Regional Court on Tuesday, 16 March.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said the robbers entered the store on 18 April in 2018, just before noon, and demanded to be taken to the safe before smashing a glass cabinet.

As the men fled the scene they were spotted by an off-duty police officer and a shoot-out ensued, added Mbele.
“The suspects fled the scene in different directions. Various units from the SAPS joined the chase as well as other law enforcement agencies,” said Mbele.
Police managed to arrest both suspects and they were subsequently charged with robbery.

Sphamandla Mzulwini (28) and Jabulani Mfeka (35) made several appearances in court before they were each sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
