THE WhatsApp messages about the R3500 Covid-19 Support Grant, which has since gone viral, has been declared, by the South African government, as fake news.
The message, which has been trending since last night, encourages the public to apply for the R3500 grant.
It further claims the amount will be paid for a period of six months.

In light of the misleading information, the government has pleaded with the public to refrain from sharing fake news with friends and family.
