A MAN was airlifted to hospital after sustaining critical injuries on the M19, Durban bound, after the Dunkeld Road bridge.

According to Rescue Care’s spokesman, Sheldon Lombard, paramedics found a man entrapped in his vehicle following a serious accident.
It is believed the patient somehow lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a stationary vehicle on the side of the road.
Lombard said further assessments revealed that the patient sustained critical injuries and required advanced life support care.
“He was extricated by the Rescue Care’s Rescue Unit as well as the eThekwini Fire Department. After being extricated, the patient was further stabilised and handed over to the Netcare 911’s aeromedical crews who airlifted him to a specialist facility,” said Lombard.
Authorities were on the scene and will be investigating.
