Upper Highway NPO donates to Embo needy families

Community pillar, Pastor Leonard Gcabashe said he was grateful for the donation as there is a desperate need in the community for food.

PASTOR Leonard Gcabashe from Philakade Care Home and Philakahle Children’s Home in Embo expressed his gratitude for the donation of body lotions and fresh eggs.

The items, which will be distributed to people in need in the Embo area, were donated by Upper Highway NPO, Hearts in Hands Foodbank.

Gcabashe said there is a desperate need in the community for food – he has been inundated with calls from families in Embo to say there is no food to eat.

Founder of the NPO, Tracy Klokie said the situation in Embo is similar in most communities at the moment with the long term effects of Covid-19 hitting harder.

Klokie pleaded with people to consider donating some non-perishable food items so that they can continue to offer food relief to the neighbouring communities.

“We are happy to collect any food donations or people can drop them at Unit 38, Acacia Business Park, 73 Nguni Way, Hillcrest,” said Klokie. To assist email enquiries@heartsinhands.co.za.
