Rescue Care Paramedics spokesman, Rowan Scandroglio said medics arrived on the scene to find that a bakkie had somehow lost control on the east bound carriageway before crossing over the median and colliding head-on with a horse and trailer truck.

“The driver of the bakkie was found severely entrapped in his vehicle and was assessed by paramedics, however he had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene,” said Scandroglio.

It is still not clear what caused the accident. SAPS attended the scene and will be investigating.
