Suspects remanded in custody for Pinetown kidnapping and carjacking

Police are still searching for Nkosi Langa who was kidnapped at his residence in Pinetown.

TWO suspects who appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday for kidnapping and carjacking were remanded in custody until 25 November 2020.

KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said 40-year-old Nkosi Langa was reported missing at Pinetown SAPS on 29 September and a missing person docket was opened for further investigation.

“It is alleged that Langa left his residence in Pinetown, driving his bakkie, and never returned home. His bakkie was later found in possession of a 29-year-old man in the Dalton area in the midlands.

“Further investigation led the police to the Pinetown CBD where the two suspects, aged 35 and 37, were arrested in different areas in Pinetown. Investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected,” said Mbele.

Mbele said police investigations revealed that Nkosi Langa was kidnapped at his residence in Pinetown and his vehicle was taken.

“The police are still searching for Langa. The third suspect will appear in court on Monday,” said Mbele. The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended police officers for the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the vehicle.
