St Benedict awards top learners

The Dux award for 2020 went deputy head prefect, Deosha Moodley.

ST Benedict School hosted their final matric prize-giving ceremony last week. The Dux award for 2020 went to Deosha Moodley, who also received subject awards for Afrikaans, mathematics, accounting, life sciences and physical science.

Deosha also shared the Cardinal Newman Award with Ethan Riedlinger which is given to a learner who may not have achieved the top marks in English but has shown a passion for the language. She was also awarded academic honours.

Deosha was deputy head prefect for 2020 and she shared the leadership trophy with Ethan Riedlinger, head prefect for 2020, and Chloe Hinds, deputy head prefect for 2020.

This is awarded to the learner/s who fulfilled their leadership role with commitment, honesty and integrity and served as a good role model to others.

The Dux Proxime Accessit (runner-up to Dux) was awarded to Ethan Riedlinger, who also received subject awards for life orientation, dramatic art, history, information technology and religious education, as well as full colours for academics.

 

Head prefect, Ethan Riedlinger was awarded runner up Dux.

Ethan also shared the Glory of God Award (for a learner who has a sound knowledge of religious education, who has contributed positively to the ethos of the school and the community, and is concerned about the spiritual development of others) with Tristan Aiston.

The Principal’s Award, which is given to the learner who emulates the values and ethos of the school in all their daily interactions and who epitomizes a spirit of enthusiasm and positivity, was awarded to Khulani Nkozi.

 

Khulani Nkozi received the principal’s and fellowship awards.

 

Khulani also received the Fellowship Award which is given to a learner who is confident, dependable, enthusiastic and displays initiative and thoughtfulness to others,

 

The ceremony concluded with the bell-ringing ceremony where every matric learner had the opportunity to ring the school bell for the last time. This was followed by a matric luncheon.
