Police arrest four suspects found in possession of drugs

The first suspect was arrested in Club Lane, Pinetown. He was found with moon shaped cocaine and 13 pieces of rock cocaine.

FOUR suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of drugs during the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit operations in Durban and surrounding areas.

“The team was conducting operations along the road when they pulled over a vehicle and upon searching it, they found moon shaped cocaine and 13 pieces of rock cocaine,” said police spokesperson, Capt Nqobile Gwala.

The suspect (28) was placed under arrest for possession of drugs.

On the following day, Wednesday, 14 October, Gwala said police officers proceeded to Blamey Road in Montclair where a 30-year-old man was found with 157 pieces of rock cocaine and two mandrax tablets.

A third suspect (49) was arrested in Woodlands in Montclair after he was found in possession of 25 capsules of heroin. “Another man (32) was found in possession of 700 capsules of heroin in Mobeni.”

According to Gwala, the total value of the recovered drugs is R35 850. 

She added that while the team was busy with the operation, they received information which led them to Stork Place in Bayview. 

“They recovered 1000 Xanax tablets and anti-depressants to the value of R6000. The tablets were found abandoned behind a block of flats,” said Gwala

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the members for the arrest and the recovery of drugs.

The arrested suspects appeared briefly in court.
