UPDATE: Accused 3 and 4 in Fifa World Cup accommodation case head to court

The two co-accused of former top cop, Navin Madhoe, and Durban businessman, Thoshan Panday, are currently in court.

THE two accused, who were still at large on Friday when the first two of four accused of corruption appeared in court last week, have handed themselves over to police and are appearing today (5 October) in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

The two suspects have been identified as former KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, General Mmamonyane Ngobeni (52), and Captain Aswin Narainpershad (52).

The case is in connection with allegations of fraud and corruption relating to the KwaZulu-Natal Police Services Fifa World Cup accommodation.

On Friday last week, a media statement by the NPA incorrectly stated that three of the four people had been apprehended and appeared in court.

Late on Friday it was confirmed that only two of the four accused had appeared.
