Beware of fraudsters outside testing centre, warns Rossburgh’s station commander

Residents have been urged to only deal with people inside the banking hall or an official office designated for a particular service.

Chief Provincial Inspector, Lorraine Nigidi has urged people to ensure they are being assisted by staff at the centre in Rossburgh.

The warning comes in the wake of a message, which has been circulated widely on WhatsApp groups, advising people going to the licensing centre not to “listen to people outside the gate”.

Ngidi, who is the station commander at the centre, said the simplest way to ensure you do not fall for any fraudulent services being offered by people outside, and sometimes even inside the testing centre, is to only deal with people inside the banking hall or an official office designated for a particular service.

“Our staff also all have name badges clearly identifying themselves as working at the license and testing centre,” she said.

“We know about the people who loiter outside and hassle people in the queues,” said Ngidi.  “We try to keep them away, but our staff are busy with people inside the centre and we can’t keep sending people out to get them to go away from a public space outside the gates.”
