Clermont school receives generous sanitary towel donation
The IIE’s Varsity College Westville staff and students donated sanitary towels, which were distributed at the Christianenburg Primary School.
A MUCH needed sanitary towel donation, valued at R1500, was made to the Christianenburg Primary School based in Clermont.
The school was ‘adopted’ by the IIE’s Varsity College Westville VC Cares, a student volunteer body.

The staff and students at the campus were encouraged to collect sanitary towels for the initiative.
According to the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, every month women and girls, across the world, miss school and classes at tertiary institutions due to a lack of sanitary products.
“This monthly pattern of missing out on education has devastating, long term effects, not only in terms of educational development, but also on the psyche of young women,” the organisation said.
“The initiative provided an opportunity for students to make a real meaningful difference in the lives of the school girls,” said the campus’ Student Relations Manager, Zanele Ntombela
Ntombela said although it is every woman’s right to have access to sanitary products, it is not easy for everyone to attain, especially during Covid-19.
“Many school girls are dependent on their schools for sanitary towels and it is amazing to know that we can fill that gap with the help of our staff and students,” she said.
