Join the fun of Woodstock’s 51st anniversary at Rhumbelow Theatre from 25 September

While the show is limited to only 75 patrons per show, the folk at Rhumbelow Theatre are excited to celebrate rock and roll again.

SINCE 2020 marks the 51st Anniversary of the historic Woodstock festival, an event which Rolling Stone Magazine listed as one of the 50 moment that changed the history of rock and roll, Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban is planning to celebrate with Barry Thomson & The Reals.

51 years ago, the Woodstock line-up included 32 acts performing to an audience of over 400 000 young people.

Legends Creedence Clearwater Revival , was the first act to sign a contract and this persuaded other big acts to follow suit.  Apparently Crosby, Still, Nash and Young,  performed for only the second time at the event.

The show

This 51-year celebration of the legendary festival features The Reals, with the talents of Barry Thomson (Guitar / vocals), Musical Director Dawn Selby (Keyboards / vocals), Mali Sewell (Drums / vocals) and Jason Andrew (Bass guitar / vocals).

The vivacious and super talented Marion Loudon (Vocals / percussion) will perform with The Reals for this production which runs from 25 September to 4 October.

The line up includes tributes to Santana, Richie Havens, Janis Joplin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker and many more.

While enjoying the show, the audience will also watch audio visual excerpts from Woodstock and are encouraged to get into the spirit by dressing up in Woodstock hippie style clothing to add to the fun.

The lengthy lockdown has put many performers on the back foot financially so any patrons who might want to donate to supporting the artist by paying a higher ticket price, will be very welcome.

“Whilst we are not changing our 2020 pricing, we would ask that if you are able to please assist us,” said theatre spokesperson Roland Stansell

Tickets cost R160 each with discounts available for for pensioners or students with a valid student card  during the show’s first weekend only at R140 each.   Loyalty card holders will pay R130 each for all shows.

“Bring food picnic baskets, or buy from Kevin,” said Stansell.  There will be a bar available so no alcohol may be brought onto the premises.

All seating will be at separate tables except in the case of cohabiting couples or members of the same household.
