Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said the man opened a case of armed robbery on 4 August. He stated that while driving a bread truck in the Pinetown CBD on the same day he was accosted by two suspects, armed with firearms.

“According to the man, the suspects allegedly forced him out of the truck at gunpoint and stole cash to the value of about R30 000 and three cell phones. The docket was registered and assigned to the detectives for further investigation,” said Manqele.

Manqele added that the police investigation revealed the suspect lied under oath when he reported the case to the police and was placed under arrest for perjury and theft.
