Possible water supply interruptions expected during Umgeni Water construction

According to the City, most areas in the lower Highway area will be affected during the construction.

THE eThekwini Municipality has warned residents to expect a possible water supply interruption for areas supplied by the Mt Moriah Reservoir from today until 1am on Wednesday, 26 August.

“Umngeni Water will undertake a construction of the strategic tie-ins at its Durban Heights Treatment Works, which will lead to shut down. This infrastructure development will allow Umngeni Water to break in the current line of the Pinetown suction lines to ensure sustainable water supply to eThekwini Municipality’s Mt Moriah Reservoir,” said the City in a statement.

The construction began at 7am this morning and will continue until 1am tomorrow morning.

“During this process there will be zero incoming flow to Mt Moriah Reservoir, as a result downstream reservoirs will have limited system input volume,” said the City.
