Varsity College students paddle for a good cause

The team of paddlers raised R5 450 for NPO conservation guardians which supports and develops the Shongweni anti-poaching team.

PADDLERS from The IIE’s Varsity College Durban North and Westville campuses raised R5 450 for NPO conservation guardians which supports and develops the Shongweni anti-poaching team.

Some of the money will also contribute towards the necessary equipment for the anti-poaching team to function effectively.

The paddlers want to also kickstart a volunteer programme which will incorporate teaching and long-term sustainability initiatives.

The event was supported by Varsity College staff and students by donating towards this initiative.

Cameron Hudson (3rd year IIE Bachelor of Commerce The IIE?s Varsity College Westville), paddled 67km at the Shongweni Dam in support of NPO conservation guardians.

KZN regional sports coordinator The IIE’s Varsity College, Jody Taylor said it was good to see the team giving their free time for a good cause while raising funds and creating awareness for the conservation guardians.

“Our students showed that coming together during times like this can go a long way to support those in need,” he said.
