Bellair SAPS closes for decontamination after staffer’s positive Covid-19 test

Brig Jay Naicker, confirmed the stations closure on Monday evening.

BRIGADIER Jay Naicker of the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS communications centre confirmed that a Bellair SAPS staff member has tested positive for Covid-19.

“All communities serviced by the Bellair Police Station are advised that this police station has been temporarily closed as a member at the Bellair Police Station has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus,” said Naicker on Monday, 13 July.

However, service delivery isn’t expected to be affected by the closure.

The public will be served via the crime prevention office at the back of the station, said Naicker.

“Service delivery from the police will not be hampered.”

Naicker suggested that people call the station if they needed to access the drive in entrance at the back of the station to get to the office being used.  Contact 031 451 2825 or 10111.

Decontamination

“The building is scheduled to be decontaminated on Tuesday 14 July 2020,” said Naicker, adding that the community would be informed once the station was open for normal operation again.

“The SAPS management apologises for any inconvenience that may arise from this. The acting Station Commander, Captain Neeraj Gopichand can also be contacted on 083 777 0279,” said Naicker.
