VIDEO: Checkers Queensburgh re-opens following closure due to staffer testing positive

Even customers who had visited the store during the weekend prior to the stores closure on Tuesday afternoon expressed worries they might have been infected with Covid-19.

ONE day after it closed on Tuesday, 30 June, Checkers Queensburgh opened its doors after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Shoppers told the Queensburgh News they were shocked when they heard, over the store public address system, that they had to leave the store.

While the store manager refused to speak to the media, the Shoprite Group said the move was aimed at protecting their staff and shoppers.

“When a positive case is confirmed, the required procedures are followed, taking into consideration when last an employee was at work, and if necessary, the store closes.”

“Following positive Covid-19 testing at Checkers Queensburgh, we closed this store and brought in a professional decontamination company to sanitise and deep clean the store,” said the spokesperson for the group.
