Westville Varsity College hosts virtual careers fair

Various companies presented themselves and what they have to offer to students.

The IIE’s Varsity College Westville’s School of Finance and Accounting hosted its first virtual careers fair for its full-time students.

Various companies presented themselves and what they have to offer to students in terms of part-time work as well as to graduates once they are ready to embark on their careers.

The students actively engaged with the companies ‘present’ and more than 100 students participated in one of the sessions.

Topics covered included, What overseas secondment opportunities do the firms offer in light of Covid-19, is the company still offering vacation work during this time and if so, how will it work and how can students apply? Aside from academics, what does a company look for in a potential candidate?

“I was thrilled that there was absolutely no gap in the value that was taken away compared to a physical careers fair. I found the careers fair very informative and I appreciate the time put in by the people involved to help us engage with the companies,” said third year IIE Bachelor of Accounting student, Juane’ Greeff.

“The School of Finance and Accounting delivers student-centric accounting programmes that facilitate students for a great future career in business,” said Westville’s Varsity College PR, Kara Lortan.
