The Grubber: Rugby fans and players take part in the #gamefacechallenge

THE Covid-19 pandemic has put the rugby season on hold but players and fans have been participating in the Instagram challenge called, the #gamefacechallenge.

The challenge entails posting an old picture of yourself, deep in action, in whatever sport you took part in and to nominate your friends to post their own versions.

Although the challenge isn’t exclusive to rugby players, the challenge is for all athletes captured in the heat of the battle.

Participants of the challenge range from old schoolboy rugby pictures, recent throwbacks of players who played provincial rugby and professionals who don’t want to miss out on the fun.

The Covid-19 social distancing and lock-down has forced sports lovers to be creative and also reminisce about their rugby playing days.

Other sports/athlete related challenges are the #stayathomechallenge, where football fans and players do keepy-uppies with a toilet paper roll instead of a football.

Some have flexed their muscles with the #pushupchallenge.

All of these fun challenges have the same principle, nominate a few friends by tagging them in your story and those who are nominated are obliged to take part and nominate other social media users in the process.
