Woman (23) suffocates 3-month-old baby girl with blanket

The woman was arrested after handing herself over to the police.

A 23-YEAR-OLD woman, who has been charged with murder, appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, (Monday, 16 March).

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the woman handed herself over to the police after killing her three-month-old baby girl by suffocating her with a blanket.

“Police together with the woman proceeded to the scene at the Sub five area in KwaDabeka where the baby”s body was found wrapped with a blanket and a dummy in her mouth. The woman was arrested and charged with murder,” said Manqele.

The case was postponed until Monday, 23 March.
