Two wanted robbers captured in Upper Highway

One of the men was caught with a stolen laptop and other valuables.

TWO burglars were arrested in two separate incidents in the Upper Highway area on Monday.

The first suspect who was arrested has been linked to multiple housebreakings in the Kloof and Wyebank area.

Russell Lawson, Blue Security’s tactical ambassador for the Highway area, said, “Blue Security was tasked by Pinetown SAPS to locate and arrest this specific individual about a month ago.”

The wanted burglar was spotted during crime prevention patrols in Kloof. He was cornered by two separate tactical teams and a chase ensued.

“The suspect jumped a fence and ran into the green belt. When he emerged through a pedestrian gate a second reaction unit, who was waiting, promptly placed him under arrest.

“He is linked to numerous cases of attempted housebreakings, copper theft and trespassing in the Kloof and Wyebank area,” said Lawson.

The man was taken to Pinetown SAPS.

One of Blue Security’s reaction units was flagged down to help apprehend a suspect that was linked to earlier housebreakings near Winston Park.

The suspect was under observation from a distance until backup from Blue Security arrived.

“Excellent cooperation and communication between our units, the Winston Park ranger and other security responders resulted in the successful tracking and arrest of the second suspect, even though he tried to elude arrest,” Lawson said.

“Although the suspect had thrown some items over the embankment into the gorge during the chase, he was still in possession of a laptop and other valuables. These items linked him to the housebreakings on Jan Smuts  Highway,” said Lawson.

The robber was taken to Hillcrest SAPS.
