Nick Evans rescues another black mamba hiding in a vehicle

The car's owner saw the snake enter the vehicle on Sunday.

HIGHWAY’S snake catcher, Nick Evans, pulled a black mamba from a vehicle, the second one in a two-week period.

The snake, according to Evans, slithered into the man’s car in Umgababa.

“He drove to work yesterday, in Mobeni, checked his car and there the mamba was,” said Evans.

The car owner said he saw the snake on Sunday and believed it would be gone by Monday (2 March).

“We looked for it, but he had his suspension lowered so it was hard to get under the car. We couldn’t see it in the engine compartment and I didn’t want to fiddle around too much,” said Evans.

The vehicle was taken to Dubcorp’s workshop in Westville north. The windscreen wipers were removed, a panel was lifted and the mamba was found.

“It was a small mamba. It had eaten. I don’t know what, maybe there was a rat in the car, but it ate something,” laughed Evans.
