Set your toes free and support CHOC’s Flip Flop Day

Launching for the first time on 14 February, Flip Flop Day is the chance for South Africans to do what they do best – Rally together behind a cause they believe in.

DEALING with the news that your child has cancer is devastating, overwhelming and terrifying, for the parent and everyone involved.

Luckily, those suffering do not need to stand alone, because a group of complete strangers with a passion for compassion are stepping up to walk alongside these young heroes, locking arms with their families and holding steadfast in the face of uncertainty.

These strangers are the people who make up CHOC.

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa is a registered and internationally recognised Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) whose aim is to provide life changing and all-embracing support programmes to children and teenagers and their families, from the get-go, once a diagnosis has been given.

For the families, this support becomes a beacon in the darkness, shining a guiding light.

Launching for the first time on 14 February, Flip Flop Day is the chance for South Africans to do what they do best – Rally together behind a cause they believe in.

From boardrooms to classrooms, the beaches of Cape Town to the streets of Maboneng, Baardskeerdersbos to Bloemfontein, Hogsback to Houghton.

Their aim is to leave no stone unturned in finding supporters who want to set their 10 toes free by paying R10 and flipping on some flops to show their support for this amazing cause. It’s time for all South Africans to have a heart and wear a sole!

“Flip flops are basically a South African wardrobe pre-requisite. Everyone wears them and everyone loves them.”

“The journey that children and teenagers with cancer face is in no way light hearted at all, but creating an annual event like Flip Flop Day that raises money towards childhood cancer awareness, is definitely a time to be joyous and needs a fully loaded feel good factor. We hope to see the public come out in full force, in their flip flops, on 14 February 2020 to show some love for our young ones,” said Carl Queiros, CEO of CHOC.

The campaign will be supported by PNA Stationers, one of South Africa’s largest and most successful retail stores, selling everything from stationery to art and craft materials.

Stickers can be purchased from PNA Stationers and also at CHOC regional offices.
