VIDEO, PHOTOS: Northdene resident, dog critically wounded in botched house robbery

Both the resident and his dog were stabilised on scene.

A NORTHDENE resident and his faithful hound were critically injured, in what is believed to be an attempted house robbery, on Tuesday.

With the help of Metro Police and other members at the scene Hunter was loaded into the Blue Security vehicle so that he could be rushed to a nearby vet.

The horrific incident unfolded around 8pm on Montgomery Crescent.

The man, who is said to be in his late 70s, was shot in the abdomen, said Rescue Care’s Gareth Jamieson.

Paramedics stabilised the man on scene and he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The dog, Hunter, was reportedly shot while trying to protect his owner.

While paramedics attended to his owner, Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios, with the assistance of Metro Police and other members at the scene, was able to rush the brave canine to a nearby veterinary hospital where he was stabilised.

Mathios said Hunter was shot through the shoulder and the bullet exited through the abdomen.
