Kearsney cricketers off to winning start

Despite the constant threat of rain, the weather held out for the annual Independent Schools Cricket Festival.

KEARSNEY College’s cricket season started strong as its 1st X1 won all its matches at the annual Independent Schools Cricket Festival at Michaelhouse recently.

Eight schools participated in the rain-threatened week which, fortunately, didn’t wash out any fixtures.

Kearsney’s results:

Day 1: 50 over game

Kearsney 1st X1: 202 all out (Talbot 51, Carmichael 54)

St John’s College Harare 1st X1: 101 all out (Rheeder 3/8)

Kearsney won by 101 runs

Day 2: 35 over game

Kearsney 1st X1: 173 all out (Nel 42, Rheeder 38, Hulett 35)

KZN Inland Academy 1st X1: 129 all out

Kearsney won by 44 runs

Day 3: 35 over game

Helpmekaar 1st X1: 118 all out (Stocks 4/24)

Kearsney 1st X1: 119/2 (Nel 36, Carmichael 29*, Hulett 28*)

Kearsney won by 8 wickets
