Two die, two injured in M13 crash

The driver and one other passenger, who were moderately injured, were stabilised on scene and taken to a nearby hospital.

TWO people died and two others were injured when a single vehicle overturned onto the Richmond Road on-ramp in Pinetown today.

According to Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care, the vehicle was travelling along the M13, Pietermaritzburg bound, when the bakkie, carrying workers, overturned.

It came to rest on the on-ramp that joins Richmond Road to Field’s Hill.

“Rescue paramedics arrived on the scene to find two bodies lying on the road and other services performing CPR. They assisted with resuscitation efforts, however, the two males, believed to be in their 20s, were fatally injured and there was nothing more paramedics could do for them,” said Jamieson.

The two men were declared dead on scene. The driver and one other passenger, who were moderately injured, were stabilised on scene and taken to a nearby hospital.
