Missing New Germany woman found brutally murdered on New Year’s Day

Zinhle Muthwa was found with head injuries and bruises all over the body. Her close friend described her as a very calm person who had a beautiful soul.

THE brutal murder of 29-year-old Zinhle Muthwa has come as a shock to her friends who described her as a calm human being.

Her friend, Philisiwe Mnisi, who rented a house with her in New Germany, told the Highway Mail that Zinhle always made sure that she told her about her whereabouts which was the reason she took to Facebook when hours went by with no trace of her.

Zinhle disappeared on 31 December. “It was about 9.34pm when I received a voice note from her telling me that she is going out to the shop.”

Mnisi said they were suppose to go to work the following day so when she woke up and noticed she was not there she started getting worried.

“She always calls at midnight if she is not going to return and we had spoken about this that if whenever she does not call me I should know that there is something wrong which is the reason she called often when she went out,” said Mnisi.

Mnisi said she started sharing her picture on social media. “I just sensed that something was wrong.”

“I received two calls saying we should check Umbumbulu as there was a body that was found matching Zinhle’s description. I then called her dad and sister who went to check,” she said.

The distraught Mnisi said her body was found with lots of bruises, she was hit severely.

“I really do not understand why would someone do something so cruel to her, she was a kind and calm person.”

Mnisi said Zinhle is from the South Coast and was staying in New Germany to be closer to work.

KZN police spokesperson, Capt Nqobile Gwala said a case of murder is being investigated by Umbumbulu SAPS.
