Fabulous reads – No joke, Noah’s autobiography a worthy read

Book review - Born A Crime by Trevor Noah.

Born A Crime, Trevor Noah, Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781 7701 06598

IN my humble opinion, Trevor Noah is a national treasure: not only is he easy on the eyes but he is also one of my absolute favourite comedians.

So, while I was excited to review his autobiography, Born a Crime, I was committed to doing so without any bias. I am pleased to say that Noah did not disappoint.

He masterfully weaves together a collection of stories from his childhood using surprising honesty and his famous wit.

However, despite its a casual tone, the book covers some pretty serious topics, including racism, apartheid, domestic violence, poverty and identity.

In addition to the grown-up version, there is also an adaptation available for teens – Born a Crime (Not For Grown Ups).

The eBook was brilliantly narrated by Noah.

You will be moved by the connection between Noah and his brave, intelligent and deeply religious mother, Patricia as well as the difficult challenges they faced.

Trevor’s endless mischief is both amusing and endearing.

Fans of Noah are guaranteed a few never-heard-before stories.
