Rape charge added to Wyebank dad’s four counts of murder

The man will appear again in court on Thursday, 7 November for murder and rape.

VARIOUS political parties, NGOs and community members showed a united front as the Wyebank dad, who faces four counts of murder, appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 9 October.

His three young children aged four, six and 10 were found hanged in their Wyebank home.

The body of his 16-year-old stepdaughter, Ayakha Jiyane was also found hanged in a bush in New Germany.

The man first appeared in court on 23 September facing four counts of murder.

On Wednesday, 30 September the accused appeared again in court facing a case of rape which was added to the murder charges.

During his first appearance, the accused told the court that he was not going to apply for bail.

 

The suspect made his third appearance at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.

Magistrate Wendy Robinson said the rape charge will be withdrawn and joined with the murder case.

MEC for Social Development, Weziwe Thusi was also present in court. The case was postponed to Thursday, 7 November for further investigations.
