Make your move at Ushaka Marine World’s Chess Carnival

If you enjoy an exciting battle of concentration, realise that every move is important and know that you cannot pawn off your failures on others, then this tournament is for you.

uShaka Marine World will once again host its annual World Chess Carnival on Saturday, 28 September in partnership with the KZN Chess Academy.

The dress code on the day is strictly black and white.

Registration is free and takes place from 8am until 9.30am and will work on a first come first serve basis.

Prizes up for grabs include uShaka Marine World entry tickets and hampers as well as trophies and medals.

There are only 88 entries available, so book now to avoid disappointment.

You can expect an event filled with unlimited fun, including face painting, piece juggling, stilt walkers, dance offs, photo opportunities, uShaka Marine World mascot entertainment and an in house DJ.

Spectators are welcome and entrance is free so get down to uShaka Marine World’s Village Walk and experience playing the most strategic game in the world.

Schedule for the day:

  • Registration: 8am -9.30am
  • Welcome and opening presentation: 9.40am – 10am
  • Round 1: 10am– 10.30am
  • Entertainment – Music dance off:  10.30am – 10.45am
  • Round 2: 10.45am – 11.15am
  • Entertainment – jugglers and stilt walkers: 11.15am – 11.30am
  • Round 3: 11am – noon
  • Entertainment – jugglers and stilt walkers:  noon– 12.15pm
  • Round 4: 12.15pm – 12.45pm
  • Entertainment – Ocean Warrior Mascots: 12.45pm – 1pm
  • Final round: 1pm – 1.30pm
  • Entertainment – Dj Spike: 1.30pm – 2pm
  • Prize giving: 2pm
