Suspect shot during attempted housebreaking in Winston Park

A case of attempted house robbery has been opened and the case is still under investigation.

ATTEMPTS to rob a house in Winston Park were halted when a security officer, who was guarding a vacant house in the Winston Park area, noticed two unknown men enter the premises last week.

According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cap Linzi Smith, the security officer observed them entering the house where they forced the door open. He was armed at the time and confronted the perpetrators.

“The first perpetrator entering the house was in possession of a knife and was instructed by the security officer to surrender more than once. However, the perpetrator made an attempt to approach the security guard with the knife, the guard in turn shot at the suspect. The second suspect fled the scene,” she said.

A case of attempted house robbery has been opened and the case is still under investigation.

“The suspect, who was shot was transported to hospital for medical attention,” said Smith.
