Camaraderie reigns at winter games

Dozens of Headway-Natal members made their way to the Leigh Cox field to compete in the organisation's annual sports event.

SUPPORTERS and athletes donned their proudly South African garb for the recent Headway-Natal’s annual Winter Games.

The NPO’s manager, Colleen Marais, said, “Highway residents were invited to come through and throw their support behind the athletes on the day. Our members participate in whatever they are able to and the competitiveness and camaraderie that came out in our members was so encouraging.”

There were numerous field events, such as the walking and running races, a wheelchair race for those in wheelchairs, flip and catch, beanbag throw and ball kick. For those feeling peckish, there was also bacon and egg rolls and tea and coffee on sale.
