Amber-Leigh shines in the spotlight

The ambitious 15-year-old hopes to take the world of performing arts by storm.

FOREST Hills teen, Amber-Leigh Ryan, is an overflowing pool of talent and has quickly turned the world into her stage.

At 15 years old, she is dead-set on reaching her dream of pursuing a successful career in the performing arts and becoming an inspiration to others through her love of performing on stage. Forget the triple threat, Amber- Leigh is a singer, songwriter, actress, model and make-up artist.

The ambitious Grade 10 Curro Hillcrest learner is currently preparing for Project Performer, an event where she will unleash her singing and acting prowess on local and international judges and scouts.

Amber-Leigh has signed up for singing and acting lessons to ensure she is on top form for the multiple categories she is entered into.

The first song she penned lyrics for is, You Don’t Care, a deep musical piece that highlights the problems faced in society today and how it would be in an ideal world.

“I like to try and put myself into other people’s shoes,” said the songstress.

Her favourite song to perform is Adele’s soulful When We were Young as it is the first song she sang in front of an audience.

“I can’t put into words how amazing it feels to stand in front of people and perform. Singing it live also made me realise how powerful a song can be as I learnt that if you work towards your dreams, you can achieve them and that is why it means so much to me,” said Amber-Leigh.

Her melodious voice has also caught the attention of couples as she has been invited to sing at two weddings this year already. “I feel lucky as I am able to explore many different avenues,” she said.

She has strengthened her acting chops over the years by taking part in numerous school productions, such as Kearsney College’s successful production, Jekyll and Hyde, Curro Hillcrest’s Aladdin as well as the lead in the school’s iteration of Pandora’s Box in 2018. Amber-Leigh has also claimed a variety of acting awards.

“I am very focussed and committed and I would take a leap of faith and go with my heart and dream,” she said. One of those dreams would be to combine her talent pool and perform on Broadway one day.

“To reach where I am today, would not have been possible without all of my coaches and my family and their constant support. Thank you,” she said.
