Mixed results for Kearsney

The loss of another soccer game was softened by Liam Theunissen's win at the 2019 KZN Spur Schools Mountain Bike League.

On Saturday, Kearsney College played Northwood away on an exceptionally windy day along the coast.

The strength of the wind played a major part in proceedings as both teams were unable to play a flowing game.

There were few opportunities in the first half as neither team took a shot at a goal.

The second half was similar to the first, but Northwood capitalised when a Kearsney defender slipped and used the opportunity to score the only goal of the game. Kearsney pressed hard for the equaliser, but without any luck. Northwood beat Kearsney 1 – 0.

The latest leg of the 2019 KZN Spur Schools Mountain Bike League was hosted by Kearsney College on Sunday. The school’s own Grade 8 learner, Liam Theunissen, won the sub junior boys’ U14 category.

The primary school age categories (U8 to 13 years) rode shorter distances, and the high school age categories (14 through to 18 years old) competed in longer courses that incorporated some intermediate technical sessions.
