Miss Earth SA finalist challenges you to support #MeatFreeMonday

#SinesSustainableSuggestions This week looks at considering implementing #MeatFreeMonday.

I WAS recently inspired by the Miss Earth SA organisation to make a commitment not to eat meat at least one day in a week #meatfreemonday.   And I, always up for a positive challenge, accepted it with enthusiasm!

Below is more about this movement which has actually become increasingly popular.

Launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCarthy in 2009, #meatfreemonday is a campaign that aims to raise awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of animal agriculture and industrial fishing.

The campaign encourages people to help slow climate change, conserve natural resources and improve your health by having at least one plant-based day a week.

Eating for the planet doesn’t mean that you have to adopt a completely vegan lifestyle.

It means that you reduce your meat and dairy consumption. If you’re eating eat 4 days a week reduce it to 1-2 days and consume less dairy because animal agriculture for food production is one of the leading causes of the climate crisis.
