Jenny King murder investigation continues

The case has been remanded until Thursday, 29 August.

THE march towards justice has once again been delayed in the Jenny King murder case much to the chagrin of both the accused and Jenny’s family.

The son and daughter of the mother killed in her Kloof home in January, as well as the man facing charges and his friends expressed frustration as the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday remanded the case again and set another date for it to be continued citing the need for further investigation as the reason for the delay.

“They have called another adjournment until 29 August because there is an outstanding toxicology report,” said Jenny’s daughter, Lee-Anne King at the court on Monday morning when the Highway Mail arrived.

The magistrate and representatives for the accused and the state were busying themselves with setting the next date and filling in the necessary paperwork while the accused sat in the dock.

His friends sat alongside a larger group of friends and family members of Jenny who were all wearing black T-shirts with the words #JusticeForJen and #LifeWithoutParole printed on them in white.

The magistrate then asked the accused to stand and informed him that the case would be heard again at the same court at 8.30am on Thursday, 29 August and that if he failed to appear, his bail would be forfeited to the state and a warrant for his arrest issued.

Asked if he understood this, the accused replied in the affirmative.
