Ronav serves up a storm

Westville Senior Primary School's SPAR Star of the Month - June 2019.

RONAV Pillay, a grade 6 learner, is Westville Senior Primary School’s SPAR Star of the Month.

Ronav is the top squash player at WSPS and was recently selected as a member of the KZN A squash team.

His love for this game began about five years ago, when his dad took him to the gym and taught him how to play. Weekly games with his dad spurred a competitive interest in him to achieve and excel at the sport. Ronav also enjoys playing cricket and will be attending the final round of PADSSA cricket trials next month.

His teachers describe him as confident, polite, determined and persistent and he is well liked by his peers.

His favourite subject is English and he enjoys reading fiction – David Walliams is his preferred author – and non-fiction as biographies on his sporting heroes are at the top of the list.

Ronav’s role model is Mohamed Elshorbagy, a professional squash player who represents Egypt. When he finishes school, Ronav would like to study to be an electronic engineer. It is his ultimate dream to win the PSA (Professional Squash Association) Championship, while proudly representing his country of birth, South Africa.
