Broken telephone causes customer ire

"Called Telkom, they could not explain except to say migrations are done by the back office and we cannot communicate with them," - Kalai Pillay.

TELKOM as of today is not attending to any calls in sales.

Telkom had outsourced sales to a company called Business Connection. Telkom then bought out this company.

They deployed old staff and then offered them a retrenchment package. As we speak, sales for existing customers has shut down.

I reported a fault to Telkom on 29 March 2019, as my landline was not working.

A week later I called only to be told that the cable was stolen and they will not repair it and they need to offer me alternative services.

I enquired when were they going to make their offer because their fault report was made on 31 March 2019. A Telkom agent asked me if no one had called. Lol. I asked why do you think I’m calling?

Anyway, I had been offered a wireless on 26 September 2018, but never received it. I queried this and was told delivery had failed. On 10 April, Tasmiya a call centre agent said they will revive this delivery and send it to me.

On 15 April, a call to Itumeleng Radebe revealed the order was cancelled. She placed a new order and said a THD number will be sent via SMS.

Nothing received, called on 15 May and was told order was finally confirmed. There was a system failure. On 18 May received a THD number.

Called Courier It to confirm delivery time. Given approximately two days. I received a message the following day for delivery. Driver had a different address.

Called Telkom, they could not explain except to say migrations are done by the back office and we cannot communicate with them. On 29 May spoke to Busi who asked if I can ask Courier It to change the address.

I informed her that only the sender can do that and not the recipient.

Apparently, until the package is back in the office, Telkom cannot cancel nor place a new order. On 3 June, the parcel is back at Telkom.

Called all departments at Telkom, every department regarding sales is redirected to the switchboard.

All calls received are being told their calls will be returned.

Tried calling all departments with no success.

Telkom responds:

Business Connection, also known as BCX is a Telkom subsidiary that is 100% owned by Telkom.
Telkom is upgrading customers telephones across South Africa. We are upgrading the technology as we look to offer customers a better experience with newer technologies. We will contact Ms Pillay directly.
