Superb support for the Jes Foord Foundation’s Handbag Project

Highway residents are encouraged to continue filling bags for the Handbag Project. These can then be directly donated to the Jes Foord Foundation.

AFTER an eight-week collection campaign, Schwenn Inc., a Durban-based law firm,  donated 100 rape comfort bags to The Jes Foord Foundation for its Handbag Project.

The initiative relies on the support of the community to donate new or used handbags that contain items to assist rape victims during the initial reporting process at the police.

“Thanks to the incredible support of the community, we were able to hand over 100 rape comfort bags, as well as 100 of each of the required items needed to fill each comfort bag – such as facecloths, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, panties, sanitary pads, tissues, notebooks, colouring-in crayons, books and small soft toys,” said the director of Schwenn Inc., Charmaine Schwenn.

The Jes Foord Foundation will distribute the rape comfort bags monthly to more than 20 beneficiaries country-wide.

“A massive thank you to the community for their overwhelming support and generosity,” said the Jes Foord Foundation’s, Trish Gillespie.
